Something quiet has happened to downtown Morgan Hill over the past two summers. The Friday night crowd used to scatter. People picked a restaurant, drifted toward the amphitheater if a band they liked was playing, and went home. This summer the crowd moves as one shape, and the shape has a center: the old Granary block on Depot Street, where a cluster of food and hospitality projects has turned a former agricultural site into the gravitational pull of the season.
If you live here, you already sense it. What you may not have mapped yet is how the pieces line up, what's actually open, and what's still a construction fence with a 2027 date on it. This is that map.
The Fridays Have a Center Now
The Friday Night Music Series is back at the Downtown Morgan Hill Amphitheater, and the 2026 schedule runs longer than most people remember. Concerts include Pop Fiction on July 17, Misspent Youth on July 24, Daze On The Green on July 31, The Houserockers on August 7, Patron Latin Rhythms on August 14, and Careless Whisper on August 21. The series is a free, weekly outdoor concert coordinated by the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce at the Downtown Amphitheater, an outdoor grassy venue where guests bring lawn chairs and blankets.
The shift isn't the concert. The concert has been happening for years. The shift is what surrounds it. Food and drink at the amphitheater come from select food trucks and pop-ups, but the sit-down options a short walk away have changed the calculus of arriving early or staying late.
What's Actually Open on the Granary Block
The Leal Portfolio has been layering projects into downtown at a pace that's easy to lose track of. Three separate names get used interchangeably in conversation, and they refer to three different things. Here is the plain version.

The Silos is the newest arrival worth planning a Friday around. Los Gatos restaurateur Ross Hanson, owner of Oak & Rye artisanal pizzeria, brought the concept to The Granary on Depot Street, near Noah's Bar & Bistro, Pono Wellness Spa, and The Running Shop & Hops. The space is newly constructed and accommodates about 52 patrons indoors with patio seating for 27. The floorplan evokes a speakeasy style and preserves historical remnants from the original granary operation, with expertly crafted cocktails and a thoughtfully curated menu.
That capacity number matters. Fifty-two seats on a Friday night in July, with a free concert two blocks away, is not a walk-in situation. A reservation earlier in the week is a different kind of Friday than showing up at seven and hoping.
MOHI Farm sits on Third Street and functions as the ingredient-forward anchor of the Leal food group. Herbs are grown on-site, produce is sourced from Frank's farm, and seasonal ingredients come from the Morgan Hill Farmers Market, so the menu changes with what's actually in season. If your out-of-town family visits in late July and asks where the good dinner is, this is a straight answer.
MOHI Social is the one people mix up with Hotel MOHI. It isn't the hotel. Leal's site describes MOHI Social as a pop-up restaurant at Granada Theatre in downtown Morgan Hill, best treated as a live downtown food option rather than the same thing as the future Hotel MOHI project, keeping the MOHI food brand active while the larger hotel project moves toward completion.
The Hotel MOHI Question
Every summer conversation about downtown eventually lands here. Someone points at the construction and asks when it opens. The honest answer is not this year and probably not next spring either. The MOHI is a multi-faceted hotel and dining concept getting ready to open in downtown Morgan Hill at 17490 Monterey Road; Mohi Hotel Management LLC recently filed a Type 47 On-Sale General Eating Place liquor license, and while no exact opening date is announced, the property is slated to debut in 2027 according to its website.
The scope is bigger than most residents realize. Guests can expect three restaurants, a steakhouse, a raw bar, an artisan bakery, a rooftop pool bar, multiple outdoor courtyards, conference and event spaces, and a luxury pool and spa. It sits steps from downtown Morgan Hill's wineries, cultural offerings, and outdoor attractions, with a 500-person event capacity.
For the summer of 2026, what this means practically is that the block is louder, dustier, and more interesting than it was a year ago, and the current MOHI-branded options are the appetizer to something a lot larger.
The Saturday Loop
Fridays belong to the amphitheater. Saturdays have their own rhythm, and it's the one most worth teaching a new neighbor.
Start with the Downtown Farmers Market, which runs Saturdays throughout 2026. Fold in Sidewalk Saturdays, the outdoor retail market. Sidewalk Saturdays hosts a local shopping, small-business retail market featuring handmade, crafted, and natural products in Downtown Morgan Hill, on the second Saturday of each month, May through November in 2026. The next dates are July 11 and August 8.
Breakfast has a new default. The Breakfast Club opened a new location in Morgan Hill at 775 Dunne Avenue, formerly the location of Yolked Extreme Breakfast, serving hearty breakfast classics, lighter brunch options, and reportedly incredible Bloody Mary options. The San Jose original had a following, so expect a wait on Sidewalk Saturday mornings.
The full Saturday, if you want the template: breakfast on Dunne, farmers market for produce and coffee, Sidewalk Saturdays for whatever handmade thing you didn't know you needed, an afternoon at a Uvas Road winery, dinner back downtown.
One-Off Nights Worth Blocking Off
Two dates on the summer calendar are worth putting in the family group text now.
Morgan Hill Freedom Fest ran July 3 and 4 as a two-day hometown celebration of local heritage and national freedom, with several events across both days. If you missed it this year, put it on next year's calendar the same way you put birthdays on the calendar.
July 25 brings the Farm To Table Dinner with Chef Guillaume at Terra Amico, a dinner on the farm with the chef from Zola and Bar Zola of Palo Alto. That is not a standing weekly event. It's a specific night with a specific chef, and it disappears if you don't book it.
Later in the season, the annual events calendar builds toward Taste of Morgan Hill and the Holiday Parade, but the summer specifically is defined by the Friday-Saturday rhythm above.
Why This Summer Feels Different
Downtowns don't change all at once. They change when three or four things happen close enough together that residents start planning their weekends around a block instead of around a single restaurant or a single event.
That's what has happened to Depot Street. The Granary now holds The Silos. The Granada Theatre now holds MOHI Social. MOHI Farm keeps the ingredient story consistent across the group. The amphitheater is a five-minute walk from all of it. The Saturday market and Sidewalk Saturdays sit inside the same footprint. And a 500-person hotel is going up at 17490 Monterey Road on a construction timeline that will keep this part of downtown in flux for another eighteen months.
